FAQ

What is Naturopathic medicine?

Naturopathic medicine is a complete system of primary healthcare, suitable for treating any illness or disease. It is safer than the system of medicine most North Americans are now familiar with and may be used on its own or in conjunction with other treatments.
Naturopathic medicine acknowledges the complex interrelationships of body, mind and spirit and is based on the following principles:

  • Each of us is physiologically unique
  • Nature can provide everything we need to enjoy good health at every stage of life
  • Illness is a warning sign
  • Healing must address the underlying cause of the problem, rather than just its symptoms
  • The doctor’s role is to heal and to empower individuals to manage their own physical and emotional well-being

Are naturopathic treatments covered by health insurance?

Most private plans cover some of the costs associated with choosing naturopathic healthcare. At NaturoMedic.com, we give you a detailed receipt for submission to your insurance company. Please check with your employer or insurance agent to be sure.

What happens at my first appointment?

Your initial appointment may take up to an hour and 15 minutes (up to 45 minutes for intake and 30 minutes with the Naturopathic Doctor). During that time, the Doctor will want to review your medical history and discuss any current symptoms you may be experiencing. The Doctor will then conduct a brief physical exam, using techniques such as muscle testing, which allows the Doctor to assess the functioning of the vital organs and assess the patient’s overall level of health.
If the Naturopathic Doctor requires further information in order to address a specific health concern, he may suggest conventional blood or urine testing or other procedures.

How are ND’s trained?

A qualified Naturopathic Doctor, ND, has at minimum completed a four-year program at a recognized college of naturopathic medicine and preceded that by three years of pre-medical studies at an accredited university. An ND’s training includes formal studies in biology, anatomy and physiology, diagnostics and naturopathic therapeutics, as well as extensive clinical service. One is legally recognized as an ND only when he or she has passed the required provincial or state exam and has been approved by a government-appointed board.

How successful are the doctors in healing cancer (or other diseases)?

We eliminate the factors that are disabling the healing process. To see the results for yourself, please read our success stories which are available on our website and in our office.

How many treatments will I need?

This is based on an individualized basis depending on your health concerns, how long you have had the complaints, and the severity of your complaints.

Why do the treatments cost so much?

For the treatments we offer, we are considerably lower priced than other clinics. Most of the treatments we use are highly specialized. The quality of the treatments and the environment in which they are given are unsurpassed. Our Naturopathic Doctors are constantly working on research and development to ensure the most effective and cost efficient treatments. We also provide air quality control that provides you with a disease free environment and also removes most environmental allergens from the air.

Who does the treatments? And what are their qualifications?

Dr. Prytula and Dr. Um perform the EAT and MET testing (so these treatments can qualify for Insurance deductions) and also administer the IV therapies. Diana Taylor RPN monitors patients throughout their IV therapies.

Will the meds given by the ND interact with my pharmaceutical drugs?

Typically no, because you have already made the Naturopathic Doctor aware of the pharmaceuticals you are using but as most Doctors know in this age of excess chemical exposure anything is possible including adverse reactions.
