Colonics

Colon therapy is a valuable procedure and treatment for a variety of colon conditions and as part of a fasting or cleansing program. A colonic treatment offers a gentle cleansing of the last five feet of the digestive tract. The purpose of the colon is to remove waste material from the body by mass muscular contractions called peristalsis. Colon therapy provides therapeutic improvement of muscular tone, which facilitates peristalsis and benefits the sluggish colon. Colonics also help reduce the transit time of waste, helping to stop the recycling of fat soluble toxins. Normally 94% of bile and fat soluble toxins are recycled. During a fast, on day’s two to five, colon hydrotherapy is recommended to ensure the flushing of fat soluble toxins from the body. The effects of a stagnant colon can be manifested in the form of constipation, halitosis (bad breath), skin problems, headaches, low back pain, lack of energy and low sex drive. By stripping down biofilm (the old, toxic mucous lining of the bowel), a major source of disease in the body is removed. The bowel is then open to a more efficient means of eliminating waste and absorbing nutrients, both of which are essential to any lasting healing process.

The colon is approximately 5 to 5½ feet long. It contains the largest concentration of bacteria in the body. These beneficial bacteria help to synthesize important nutrients including folic acid, B vitamins and vitamin K. Waste material allowed to stagnate alters the proportion of healthy bacteria to disease producing bacteria, preventing proper elimination and absorption leading to toxic accumulation. When waste arrives at the inner walls of the colon from circulating blood, the buildup of feces prevents their removal. The colon becomes weak, waste materials accumulate and the colon becomes irritated.  There are multiple causes that can affect proper bowel function: poor dietary habits, dehydration, illness, medications, emotional and physical stress. Restoring efficient bowel peristalsis and digestion is very important to your health.
